Shopping Trip Successes

It's Friday morning. The baby is napping, and I've already fired off one blog post. Sure, I haven't showered, the dishes aren't done, and there's laundry waiting in the washing machine. But I've decided a little me time is ok this morning, which means a cup of coffee and another blog post.

This is a Friday Shopping Trip Success post, but really, I didn't do a whole lot of shopping this week.

Because the pantry and fridge were already well stocked, I only made one trip to Aldi, where I spent $34 on the items pictured below, mostly produce.

The real "succes" of my week if the fact that I actually stuck to my weekly meal plan! The meals, many new recipes, turned out well, and we avoided eating at restaurants out of laziness. Yay! You can check out a few of this week's meals - Cajun Tilapia and Black Bean Salsa - Crock Pot Balsamic Chicken

  1. Great job shopping this week. It is also a good idea to stock up on those items that are on sale. Just in case you may need them later.

  2. Thanks, Amy. I try to shop that way, but there just wasn't much in the sale ads that matched our needs/food preferences this week.

  5. Great trip! Looks like you got lots of great produce. I love meal planning. I have my meals planned out until the end of March. I may tweak it from week to week shifting things around, but it really does make life so much easier!

  7. Hi Allison, I have been meaning to post but have been fighting some type of bug for a few weeks. Had to go to drugstore to pick up prescribed meds and figured I would try my hand at taking advantage of some drug store deals. I think, for it being my first time, I did OK. Actually I am pretty proud of myself. I followed Southern Savers Best Deal suggestions and came out with 1 Carefree and 1 Stayfree product, 4pk GE light bulbs, a Red Bull and Hershey's Choc. Bar for hubby, and a Ginger ale for myself. I bought the beverages and candy separate, which were free except for the tax thanks to the 3 $2 +Up Rewards from the first purchase.
I totaled them all together before coupons/sales $19.97 after coupons/sales/etc. I spent only $7.49 out of pocket. I also noticed that they have Softsoap on sale for $.97. As I was clipping coupons for today's trip I saw a coupon or two. I will probably go back and take advantage of that sale, especially since we are running low on hand soap in the house.

    1. What a great trip, Tasha! If you have to refill any of your prescriptions, you might want to have them transferred to a Harris Teeter Pharmacy. They're offering $20 in groceries for every new or refilled prescription, through the beginning of April. I picked up a refill tonight, and it loaded the $20 right to my store card. Easy grocery money. :)
