Money Maker (well, kind of) - Recyclebank

My Money Maker posts are just that, posts that highlight opportunities to make a little extra cash. Sometimes, like today, that opportunity will earn you virtual money that can be redeemed for rewards.
Recyclebank is a website that is a quite appropriately named. It's a site focused on recycling education, and it allows you to "bank" virtual dollars, which can be redeemed for various prizes. After visiting the site and signing up, you can earn points by completing tasks like watching very brief recycling videos and taking short quizzes, which are sponsored by different companies, all wanting to show off their latest green initiatives.

Honestly, some of the info I've gained from the website has left an impact I actually switched to using powdered laundry detergent after reading how its production and use have a much smaller carbon footprint than that of liquid detergents.

Now, the prizes you can earn through Recyclebank aren't huge, but they are a nice incentive, given the little time it requires. You could hold onto your points and earn store gift cards, but I'm much too impatient for that! I've used my points toward a magazine subscription, Kashi coupons, produce coupons, free Happy Family baby food products, and free smoothie coupons. I've been able to do this by creating an account for me, Alex, and Nolan. The site does not limit the number of accounts per family.

Check it out....unless you just don't care about the earth! ;)
