Harris Teeter Super Doubles - $1.84 OOP

Though I haven't been posting coupon deals recently, I haven't completely given up deal shopping. I did let my Sunday newspaper subscription expire last week (GASP!), but I've noticed that, at least for now, I'm doing just fine relying on internet printables.

Harris Teeter is running another Super Doubles promo this week, which means coupons with a value up to $1.98 will double in value. Shoppers are limited to 20 doubled coupons each day, and you may only double two of the same internet printable in a given transaction.

I went to HT this morning and using my coupons, I was able to pick up the pictured items for just $1.84 + tax, saving almost $30!

The promo runs until Tuesday evening, so there's still time to score the same deals. I've included the coupon matchups for my purchases, but to see a more complete list, check out Homemaking Mom. As you print coupons, keep in mind that you are able to print two of the same coupon per computer.

Weekly Savings + Success Stories

It was a way under budget shopping week for me! I spent $33 at Aldi, filling the fridge with produce.

I also hit up Harris Teeter Super Doubles, spending under $2 on over $50 worth of groceries on my first trip. Gotta love those pharmacy credits, which paid for most of the Harris Teeter bill! I was able to snag some inexpensive, healthy snacks, like almonds and trail mix, and I scored packages of tofu for just $0.19 each! What a great find, especially now that baby is such a big fan!

On my second trip to Harris Teeter,  I spent $6.10 on $35 worth of goods, an 83% savings. scoring inexpensive toilet paper, ice cream, and cereal.

If you're interested, you can check out my Harris Teeter coupon matchups here. The Super Doubles sale runs through next Tuesday evening, 2/21.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles (week of 2/15) - Trip 1

Though there's still time for redemption, this round of Harris Teeter Super Doubles is shaping up, at least in my book, to be the least impressive since I began couponing last summer. The freebies are few and some of the better deals just don't fit my cooking style and eating habits.

I did make a morning trip to HT, though. There was no way I could completely ignore the sale. On my way into the store, I dropped by the pharmacy to transfer a prescription for Alex. With a $20 store credit added to my vic card, I could buy a few more expensive items and still keep my out of pocket very low. I worked a few coupon deals, stocking up on a few healthy treats, and used the rest of the pharmacy credit to pick up items we needed in the house, like milk and baby cereal.

After store card, coupons, and my $20 credit, I spent $1.79 + tax for the items pictured. I saved $53.42, a 97% savings. You will find coupon matchups on this previous post.

Freebies and Nearly Freebie Items - Not many for a Super Doubles Trip

I bought:

1 four pack Activia Yogurt - FREE + $0.41 overage
1 Crunchmaster Crackers - FREE
2 Turkey Hill Ice Tea - FREE (had coupons from contacting company with a compliment)
2 Nasoya Tofu  $0.19 each
1 International Delight Creamer - $0.49
2 Smithfield Bacon - $1.50 each
2 Blue Diamond Almonds - $1.59 each
2 Emerald Breakfast on the Go - $1.59 each
1 HT Shredded Cheese - $2.00
1 Gallon Skim Milk - $3.79
1 bag frozen peaches (the baby LOVES him some peaches - so much easier than ripening) - $3.99
1 Gerber Infant Cereal - $2.25

Even though I paid next to nothing for this pile of food, I'm not exactly happy with the Super Doubles trip and feel like my $20 credit could have been better saved for a later date. Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Matchups - 2/15-2/21

Below you will find what I consider to be some of the best deals for this rounds of Harris Teeter's Super Doubles.  As of right now, there aren't a lot of freebies, though more deals could be added throughout the sale week. This list is definitely NOT a complete list of coupon matchups. For full lists of matchups, visit Southern SaversKeep in mind that coupons vary regionally.

For those of you who have taken advantage of the Harris Teeter $20 pharmacy credit, it's important to note that the credit is automatically deducted when your total exceeds $20 BEFORE coupons. If this is the case, you might want to add some non-coupon items, like meat or milk.

- Only THREE like coupons will be doubled per transaction (more will be taken at face value)

Super Doubles - Lowes (2/9) and Harris Teeter (2/15)

The deal finding world is all a buzz with Super Double Coupon news. In the coming weeks, two major chains will be doubling coupons with a value up to $1.98.

Lowes Foods will be holding their first ever Super Doubles event during the 2/9 sale week, and Harris Teeter will be offering the promo during the 2/15 sale week (a bit of surprise, they just did this).

Both stores will be following pretty much the same rules and restrictions. Coupons with a value up to $1.98 will double. Both stores will allow you to double 20 coupons each day, and you may only double 3 of the same coupon each day.

I've only been in a Lowes store once. There's one in North Durham, as well as in Brier Creek in Raleigh (practically Durham). I really doubt I'll make a trip to Lowes just for this sale, but if I spot some good freebies or deals, I'll be sure to post about them. I'll also give links to sites that have done full deal match ups.

If you want to start prepping for these Super Doubles weeks, you can start looking for coupons with a value between $1.00 and $1.98. There are a number of high value cereal coupons on the Pillsbury site. There's also a $1.00 Kikkoman coupon on the SmartSource site, which when doubled will help you score free soy sauce or other products. You can also search through the printable coupons tab on this site. The best coupons will be for money off of ONE product, rather than a dollar amount off of two products, for example, $1.00 off one box of Dulce de Leche Cheerios (this will double to $2.00 off).

Happy coupon hunting!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles - Trip 3

This morning, I made what I expect to be my final trip for this round of Super Doubles at Harris Teeter. I went hoping that a few items would be restocked and also to try out a few new deal ideas that I wanted to see for myself before posting.  On the way home, I also stopped at Kroger and used my free $4 credit. These trips included coupon deals, as well as a few items we needed in the house to round out our weekly grocery shopping. Yes, that is KY Jelly in the picture above...not needed to round out our grocery shopping. I'll explain below how that purchase made me almost $2, which was used to pay for my other groceries. And yes, that is a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese. Impulse buy. And yes, I DID eat nearly the entire box by myself for lunch today. Judge away.

I spent $13.25 + tax at HT on $66.47 worth of items, an 80% savings. I spent $1.85 + tax at Kroger on $11.56 worth of groceries. Which means that I spent a total of $15.10 for $78.03 worth of groceries, an 81% savings.

I bought:

Harris Teeter (click items to see coupon matchups)

1 KY Jelly - $1.81 Money Maker (Use $3 coupon 1/8 inserts + $3 e-vic coupon = $1.81 Money Maker)
2 Kikkoman Soy Sauces - FREE
2 Nivea Lip Balms - FREE
2 1/2 Gallons Smart Balance Milk - FREE
1 Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Creamer - $0.15
4 boxes Barilla Whole Grain Spaghetti - $0.50 each x 4 = $2.00
2 bags Sargento Shredded Cheese - $1.00 each x 2 = $2.00
1 Digornio Pizza - $3.00
1 La Brea Baguette - BOGO (rings up half price)
Bananas
Russet potatoes
1 lime
1 lemon
1 Newman's Own Salsa

Total = $14.41
- $1.81 from KY e-vic coupon = $13.25

Kroger (prices after store card and coupons)

1 Dozen Eggs - $2.49
2 1 Liter Deer Park Sparkling Waters - $1.00 off 2 coupon (1/8 insert) = $0.25 each
1 bag Kroger mini carrots - FREE product coupon (home mailer) = FREE
cilantro - $0.69
1 Athenos Humus - $1.25 (great sale!)
1 Kraft Mac & Cheese - $0.92

Harris Teeter Super Doubles (+ Kroger) - Trip 2

Apparently, dogs need to eat every day, and it would seem, that with all my coupon planning, I failed to realize that we were out of food for Cooper. We fed him people food last night after discovering that there was no kibble atop the fridge. Mistake.

After waking up to a mess on the living room floor that told me just what Cooper's stomach thought of people food, I bundled up Nolan and headed out for dog food (Rachel Ray - that dog is a food snob). My floors, and Cooper, couldn't handle another people food meal.

Since I was out anyway, why not coupon??

My trip feels pretty brag worthy. I made stops at Harris Teeter and Kroger (across the street from each other), and between the stores, I spent $2.03 + tax for $37 worth of groceries, a 94.5% savings! Plus, I received catalina coupons for a free Poise product (not sure why that one printed), with a value up to $6.00, as well as one for $2.00 off coffee creamer, which will help me score one for free at a later time.

I bought...

Harris Teeter

3 Starkist Chunk Light Tuna Pouches - $1.00 (regularly $1.65)
- 3 $0.50 printables (click Hungry Girl Loves Pouch, scroll down to print coupon) x 2 = FREE

2 V8 Smoothies - $1.94
- 2 $1.00 printables x 2 = FREE

1 Muir Glen Tomato Paste (I stock up whenever I see this coupon) - $1.39
- $0.75 printable x 2 = FREE

1 Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Creamer - $2.65
- $1.00 printable (click Spread Some Holiday Cheer on left side of screen) x 2

1 Silk Soy Milk - $2.89
- $1.00 printable (check second page) x 2 = $0.89

Total = $1.04 + tax

Kroger

4 Kashi Go Lean Cereals - on sale for $2.99 each
- 4 $2.00 off one recyclebank printable coupons (*see below for explanation of how to get coupons)
- $3.00 instant savings for buying 4 participating products
= $0.96 for four (~$0.25 per box)

1 box Fiber One bars - $2.89
- FREE product coupon (Kroger home mailer) = FREE

Total = $0.99 + tax

* Getting the Kashi coupons takes a little explaining, but it's not too difficult. If you haven't already done so, you'll need to set up two Recyclebank accounts (two e-mail addresses). You will need to earn points by completing quick tasks like quizzes (takes just a minute). Once you have earned 75 points, redeem them for a $2.00 off Kashi coupon (check the food and beverages tab). You print this coupon from home, and when you do so, hit the back browser arrow, which will allow you to print two coupons for your 75 points. Do the same thing from a second Recyclebank account. This will give you four coupons to use for the Kroger promo.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles - Trip 1

I made a trip to Harris Teeter, armed with coupons to "Super Double." I often make Super Doubles trips just for the freebies, but this round, there aren't many to be had (which made the store much less crazy than it usually is on the first day of Super Doubles). I was still able to score some pretty good deals, though, and walked away with $100 worth of groceries for $27, a 73% savings. This isn't too bad, considering I bought a few items with no coupons, like deli meat, bread, and olive oil. The coupon match ups for the items I purchased can be viewed by following this link. The Sargento Cheese is not listed in that post. It was purchased for $1 per pack using two $1.00 off 2 coupons I found on a Harris Teeter tear pad about a month ago.

What I really liked about this shopping trip, is that I was able to buy a lot of very healthy food for very little money. Who says you can only save money on junk food??

Here's a breakdown of the items I purchased. Prices listed are after store card and coupons. Items purchased without coupons are listed in red.

2 Muir Glen Tomato Pastes - FREE
2 Starkist Tuna Pouches - FREE
1 Oral-b Floss - FREE
1 Wholly Guacamole - FREE
1 Coffee-mate Natural Bliss Creamer - $0.15
1 Silk Soy Milk - $0.89
1 Seeds of Change Quinoa - $0.99
2 Pom Juices - $0.50 each x 2 = $1.00
1 Digiorno Pizza - $3.00
4 Sargento Shredded Cheese - $1.00 each x 4 = $4.00
1 La Brea Wheat Bread (BOGO - rings up half price) - $2.34
1 Olive Oil - $3.99
1 bunch red leaf lettuce - $1.99
1 can black beans - $0.79
1/3 lb deli turkey - $2.80
1 red onion - $1.06
1 Snyder's Tortilla Chips - $2.50

Total =  $27.04 + $0.90 tax = $27.04

Have you made a trip to Harris Teeter to Super Double your coupons? How did you do??

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Preview and Matchups

Harris Teeter's Super Doubles promotion begins this Wednesday. For one week, Harris Teeter stores will double coupons with a value up to $1.98. Customers are allowed to double up to twenty coupons each day. The store also allows customers to double coupons for three like items per day but only two like internet coupons per day.

This is an interesting time of year for the chain to be offering Super Doubles. If you've been clipping coupons for a while, you probably noticed that TONS of coupons expired on the last day of 2011. I weeded my binder for expired coupons last night, and really, there isn't much left inside.

The sale ad has been leaked, though some unadvertised deals are yet to be announced. Honestly, this isn't the best Super Doubles promo, as far as freebies or low cost deals go. To score the best deals, you'll need to turn to printable coupons. Remember, you can print two of the same coupon per computer.

Below, I've listed a few of the best available deals. I'll be updating as I find more.

Super Doubles Deals - 1/4/12-1/10/12

Harris Teeter Super Doubles - 1/4/12-1/10/12

Harris Teeter will be running a Super Doubles coupon promotion from Wednesday, January 4th through Tuesday, January 10th. During this promotion, coupons with a value up for $1.99 will double. This means that a coupon worth $1.50 will deduct $3.00, a coupon for $1.75 will deduct $3.50, etc. Coupons worth $2.00 or more will not double.

As the sale nears, I will post coupon match ups for items that will be free or inexpensive using super doubled coupons.

For now, you can prep by searching the coupon database on Southern Savers for paper coupons or printable coupons with a value over $1.00 (anything less doubles everyday at Harris Teeter) and less than $2.00. By typing "$1." into the search bar, all coupons with a value over $1.00 will be displayed. The database provides links to any available printable coupons.

Happy hunting!
