Over the past few days, I've gotten e-mails from both Redbox and Blockbuster Express, explaining impending rate increases. Redbox rentals will be now be $1.20 per night, up from $1.00 (not a significant change). Blockbuster Express is moving to a slightly different rate system, though. Calling it a 3-2-1 system, the most recently released videos will now cost $3.00 for a one night rental. Twenty eight days after release, videos will drop to $2.00 per night, and after 90 days will drop to $1.00 per night.
I'm not sure how this will impact free rental codes, but I would guess that you will only be able to score old movies for free. I'll update if I find out.
